Kang Lab

Kang Lab

Laboratory of Ion Channel Structural Biology

Underwood-Avison Science Institute
Department of Biomedical Sciences, College of Medicine, Yonsei University

Our lab studies how neurosteroids, endogenous modulators of membrane proteins, act on their ion-channel targets and how their biosynthesis is disrupted in disease, combining cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) with two-electrode voltage clamp (TEVC) electrophysiology to link structure to function.

We are recruiting

Postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers at all levels.

Research

Two connected questions: how neurosteroids act on ion channels, and how the mitochondrial environment that produces them breaks down in disease.
